Non-urgent advice: Notice

All requests for letters, reports or queries must allow up to 5 working days to receive.

Urgent Appointment

Patients with urgent medical problems are asked to call from 8am on the day and will be seen on the same day where possible, you may have to wait as these clinics are unpredictable due to the nature of emergencies, if there are no appointments available you will be offered a telephone consultation where possible or signposted to another service that may be able to assist you.

Routine Appointment

All our routine appointments are for 10 minutes, and for one person only, if you think you may need more time or you have more than one problem to discuss with the doctor please mention this to the receptionist at the time of making your appointment and she will be able to allocate further time.

  • Click on the link above for Patchs. Here you can answer 4 simple questions which will be sent to the practice and someone will be in touch with an appointment
  • Use the NHS App to book an appointment online. If you do not have access already to the app please visit the home page for some simple guidance to set this up.
  • If you have previously used Patient Access you can also access online bookings through there. Book an appointment online via the link at the top of this page

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us we may offer you a consultation:

  • By phone
  • Face to face at the surgery
  • On a video call
  • By text or email

Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means the doctor or nurse can help you sooner.

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.

Telephone Consultations

We offer an option of telephone or face to face consultations, please ensure you confirm with the receptionist the type of appointment you require.

If we are unable to offer you a convenient appointment, the receptionist will offer you a telephone consultation by the next GP available, please ensure we have your most up to date phone number to return the call.

If you feel that you need to speak to a GP urgently and it cannot wait please make the receptionist aware so she can mark the call as urgent.

Extended Access Hubs

There are now appointments with GPs and nurses available to book outside of the standard GP practice opening hours, in the extended access hub, there is a range of face to face and telephone appointments for GPs Nurses Phlebotomy and HCA.

Chaperone

Please tell us if you would like someone to accompany you during an examination or a private room to discuss any matters

Home Visits

If possible please try to telephone reception before 10:30am if you require a home visit.

A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.

Home visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the surgery.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

Please inform us as soon as possible if you are not able to attend for an appointment.  Numerous people don’t bother and it blocks other people getting an appointment of their choice along with wasting doctor’s time.  If you do not attend for your appointment you will receive a call asking you to be more considerate and it will be recorded on your medical records – if you continue to miss appointments your registration with the practice will be reviewed and you may be removed from the practice list.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance (excluding weekends and public holidays).

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

3 non-attendances may lead to your removal as per our policy.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • If there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • If you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • If you need an interpreter
  • If you have any other access or communication needs

Late for appointments

As we have 10 minute appointments we are only able to allow patients to be 10 minutes late for their appointment, any longer than this and we have to ask you to rebook otherwise it is unfair on the other patients who are waiting to be seen.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
